This is ALLIE...and this is her story. One day a few weeks ago, Marsha Garcia, a Save a Stray volunteer who helps out at the Prichard Animal Shelter, was there when their animal control truck pulled up. And in the back was this sweet but
...
frightened dog with a bleeding neck. Whoever had owned her had kept her chained up and as best as we can guess the chain was either incredibly heavy or attached to something heavy or immobile. Weeks or months of this cruelty had taken the skin completely off of Allie's neck.
Marsha saw Allie's pleading eyes and friendly disposition and despite the pain she had to have been in, she licked the back of Marsha's hand when she held it up to her. Marsha could not just leave her to whatever fate would lie ahead at the shelter so she made a phone call asking if she would foster Allie, could she become a Save a Stray dog and get the chance to find the good life it was quite obvious she'd never known before. And as sometimes happens when people are in the right place at the right time, tiny miracles occur and Allie's path in life was about to change forever. Though she required surgery to mend the wound that wrapped completely around her neck, she came through with flying colors and is healing beautifully. We'd like to give a sincere THANK YOU to those who donated to Allie's surgery. It's hard to imagine that after being treated the way she had been, Allie was able to hold onto goodness and a great disposition. She is a friendly, sociable, fun-loving dog who loves children and other dogs...and cats! Allie is probably a boxer-pittie mix, weighs 38# and is about a year old. Allie deserves only the very best home. Could that be yours? If you'd like to consider adding Allie to your family, please complete an online adoption application at www.saveastray.org.
