COURTESY LISTING. CONTACT: Nicole Barnes 251-604-5482 nikkibarnes1515@yahoo.com. Please read COOPER's story. This beautiful dog is a Great Pyrenees/Husky mix, about two years old and 75 pounds. He is fully vetted, heartworm negative and neutered. He is great around other dogs and children and walks well on a leash. But Cooper suffers from severe separation anxiety and desperately needs a home with a patient, experienced human who can work through his issues with him. No dog deserves to be shuffled from one place to another like Cooper has been. Without a stable environment, he will end up at a shelter where he will certainly be deemed unadoptable and never even be put up for adoption.
We don't know Cooper's early life. We do know that he was pulled by a rescue group from a kill shelter and placed in a loving, foster home. Apparently there was miscommunication between the foster home and the rescue group on the permanence of Cooper's placement. Cooper's separation anxiety issues began to surface and though his foster mom tried valiently to work with him, he is destructive and frightened when left alone. Unable to continue to care for him, the foster mom appealed to the rescue group to take him back but they felt she had adopted him and would not do so.
Cooper's foster mom tried for a long time to find him a new home and just when she was about to give up, what appeared to be a great home materialized. The new family believed they could work with Cooper and help him through his separation anxiety. But the same issues continued and eventually they too decided that Cooper was too much for them and he was returned once again to his original foster.
If a suitable, loving home cannot be found for Cooper, this poor dog will end up at a shelter, just like where he was before all this started. For a dog who is terrified when left alone, this would truly be a fate worse than death. When he is with his human, Cooper is a loving, wonderful companion. He has so much to give, but he has been damaged in the past and it will take the right person to help him be everything he can be.
